The full-length trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been officially released.

Director Zack Snyder posted a clear version of the trailer on his Twitter account on Friday (April 17), nearly 24 hours after it leaked online in a grainy bootleg copy.

The moody and atmospheric 2-minute clip examines the role of Superman (Henry Cavill) in human society in the aftermath of the destruction he caused while battling General Zod in Man of Steel.

"The world has been so caught up with what he can do, that no-one has asked what he should do."

Scenes of Superman conducting various heroic tasks are juxtaposed with shots of Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne staring at his Batman costume in the Batcave.
