Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club books have hit another impressive milestone.

The Pointless star's series has already produced two platinum-selling books with the first and third entries – and it has now been announced that another has also hit the bar.

The fourth tale in the murder-mystery series, The Last Devil to Die, was confirmed to have achieved platinum status at the Bestseller Awards last night, and was honoured alongside fellow bestsellers including Bonnie Garmus's Lessons in Chemistry and David Nicholls's One Day.

The book is set to be adapted into a Netflix movie from Harry Potter director Christopher Columbus, and counts Steven Spielberg as a producer.

The star-studded cast includes Helen Mirren as Elizabeth, Pierce Brosnan as Ron, Ben Kingsley as Ibrahim, and Celia Imrie as Joyce, while the likes of David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce and Naomi Ackie also appear.

It is being written by Columbus and Katy Brand, and Osman recently opened up about why he isn't involved in the script himself.

"It was a deliberate choice because you're either really involved or you're not, and I honestly would rather spend my time writing another book than getting involved in all of that so I absolutely left them to it," he told BBC Bookclub.

Osman is currently writing the fifth book in the series, and admitted he has a "slight concern" while seeing the actors in character during a set visit.

"Sir Ben Kingsley is about as close as you can get, I think, but that's not the person who's in my heart," he said. "So I did, for like one minute, I had a slight concern, but then I remembered who those characters were."

The Thursday Murder Club is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2025.
