Ryan Reynolds has addressed Deadpool's potential return in the next Avengers movie.

The actor recently reprised his role as the wisecracking antihero in Marvel's latest blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, which brought in over $1 billion at the worldwide box office following its release in July.

During a new interview with Variety, Reynolds was asked if the character will next return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 1, 2026.

However, the actor neither confirmed nor denied whether this could be a possibility.

"I’m not even being cagey," he said, laughing: "We’ll see what happens there."

Reynolds previously opened up about his future as Wade Wilson in August, saying that he and director Shawn Levy didn't make Deadpool & Wolverine with a follow-up movie in mind.

"It wasn’t meant to be a commercial for another movie. It wasn’t meant to be any of that stuff. And, I think I get a great deal of joy making a movie like that," he explained.

"But honestly, right in this moment, I have no idea if I’ll ever wear that Deadpool suit again — I hope I do — but I don’t know. Right now’s the time to just kind of hang it up for a bit and see what happens next."

However, he did recently confirm that he's planning to reunite with Hugh Jackman and Levy for a new, non-Marvel movie he's currently writing.

"I’m spending the year writing," he told Variety. "I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel."

Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday will see the return of Robert Downey Jr, who has been cast as Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom. The news was revealed during Marvel's Comic-Con 2024 panel by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, who also announced that the casts of The Fantastic Four, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* would appear in the film.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
