Terrifier 4 still hasn't been officially confirmed, but with Terrifier 3 making an impressive $80 million worldwide, we definitely haven't seen the last of Art the Clown.

Following the world premiere of Terrifier 3 in September 2024, writer/director Damien Leone said in a Q&A, "Yes, there will be a Terrifier 4" (via Variety). However, it seems he jumped the gun a bit.

"I wasn't supposed to announce it," he told GamesRadar+. "Now it's a question of, can I fit everything I want to fit before I get to that finale? Can I fit it in one more movie, or is it maybe going to take me two movies before I get there?"

With Terrifier 3 becoming the highest-grossing outing of the series, a fourth movie is all-but guaranteed. And we need it to as Terrifier 3's ending leaves plenty of questions left unanswered for the series.

So as we wait for official confirmation, here's everything you need to know about Terrifier 4. (Warning: Terrifier 3 spoilers await.)

Terrifier 4 potential release date: When can we expect Terrifier 4?

Since it hasn't been officially announced, we don't yet have a confirmed release date for Terrifier 4 as of November 2024.

What to Read Next

There were two years between Terrifier 2 (October 2022) and Terrifier 3 (October 2024), so we'd imagine they'd want to stick to a similar release pattern. That points to Terrifier 4 being released in time for Halloween 2026.

The third movie filmed from February-April 2024 before being released in October of the same year. It means that, technically, if Terrifier 4 started filming in early 2025, we could see it in October 2025.

That's pure speculation (and hope) from us though, so just watch this space and we'll update whenever we have any release-date news.

Terrifier 3 ending explained: How does it set up Terrifier 4?

As with the previous two movies, Art the Clown's body count is high in Terrifier 3 and this time, Vicky is helping out with the killings too.

It's revealed that she's been possessed by the demon that either took over or was the Little Pale Girl in the sequel. Like a lot of Terrifier lore, it's not entirely clear at this point, but what is clear is that this demon wants to take over Sienna.

Sienna is the demon's antagonist on Earth, the only thing that can stop it and Art. It explains why she had those miraculous resurrection skills in the second film, and why she can wield that magic sword, gifted to her by her father.

The final act of Terrifier 3 sees Art and Vicky take Sienna and her aunt Jessica hostage in their home, intending to torture Sienna to weaken her and let the demon in. Sienna stays strong, despite Jessica being brutally killed and Art unveiling the decapitated head of her brother Jonathan.

What Art and Vicky don't know is that Sienna dug up the sword from Terrifier 2 and hid it in a present under her tree. Her cousin Gabbie (also being held hostage) knows, though, from reading Sienna's diary, and asks Art to allow Sienna to open one final present.

Art breaks Sienna's hands before freeing her to open her present, but she's still able to wield the sword to decapitate Vicky. After a brutal fight, Sienna manages to stab Art and pin him to the wall.

Before she can kill him though, Vicky's head starts to melt and open up a portal to hell (we think) in the floor of the house. Gabbie falls down this hole and is clinging on as Sienna desperately tries to save her instead of killing Art.

Sienna fails to save Gabbie and she falls down to hell, and when she looks back at the wall, Art has escaped (of course). The final scene of Terrifier 3 sees Sienna pledge that she'll "find" Gabbie, while Art gets on a bus to places unknown.

It's still unclear exactly why Art can keep coming back from the dead, how the Little Pale Girl and Vicky fit into things, and why Sienna's father's comic books are the key to beating Art.

Leone might not know how many movies are left in the series, but he does have a definitive ending planned out.

"There is no definitive answer at this time regarding how many more films I will make before concluding the Terrifier saga. Personally, I can't see it going further than one or two more films, but only time will tell," he told Variety.

"For now, all I can say with certainty is that I know how it ends, and it will be epic."

Despite the success of the series, it seems that Leone isn't interested in just churning out sequels where Art kills a new batch of victims. He's even known the ending of the entire series since writing the second movie.

"As a storyteller, as a filmmaker, you want to create a satisfying franchise, a satisfying conclusion where you could just watch it from start to finish and understand the journey and the arcs of your characters," he told ScreenRant.

"I mean, that's the goal, and I'm saying that now as like a naïve artist, but you never know what's going to happen down the line, but that is the goal is I don't want to make too many of these, and I want it to have a satisfying conclusion."

Terrifier 4 cast: Who will be back in Terrifier 4?

Right now, the only guarantees for Terrifier 4 returns are David Howard Thornton as the unkillable (it seems) Art the Clown and Lauren LaVera as the (equally unkillable) Sienna Shaw.

We think that Sienna's brother Jonathan, played by Elliott Fullam in Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3, was killed by Art and Vicky. However, we never saw his death in Terrifier 3 and the decapitated head could have been anybody's, although Art did seem to have his glasses.

Antonella Rose could be back as Sienna's cousin Gabbie, assuming that she survives her trip to hell. We also wouldn't be surprised if we see Vicky Heyes again (played by Samantha Scaffidi), despite Vicky being decapitated and melting away.

The fact is, it's the Terrifier series, where death doesn't always mean the end, so we'll just have to watch this space for now.

Terrifier 4 trailer: Any footage of Terrifier 4 yet?

Unfortunately, we don't have any trailer yet for Terrifier 4 as filming has yet to start on the next movie, so we'll be waiting a while to see new Art footage.

Terrifier 3 is out now in cinemas. Terrifier and Terrifier 2 are available to watch on Prime Video.
