Deadpool & Wolverine's producers are aiming for awards season glory – including an Oscars campaign for Hugh Jackman.
The third entry in the Deadpool series has received generally positive reviews in addition to its box office success. Now, Variety is reporting that awards season campaigning for the movie is getting started.
Jackman, who reprised his role as Wolverine after a seven-year absence, will be considered for the supporting actor categories at numerous awards shows including the Oscars, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Critics Choice Awards.

The movie will be entered into the Comedy/Musical categories at the Globes, with Jackman's co-star Ryan Reynolds also put forward for nomination in the leading actor category.
Additionally, the film will aim for various technical awards at the upcoming Oscars, with categories including Best Visual Effects, Best Sound and Best Production Design.

Jackman has one previous Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category for his role as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. If he wins an Academy Award, then he joins a small group of people who've received at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award (EGOT).
Whilst Deadpool & Wolverine will be pushing for awards glory, Reynolds recently cast doubt on the future of the character following his move to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing that director Shawn Levy hadn't envisaged a follow-up.

"I would say that Shawn and I have been pretty clear," said Reynolds. "I think, in the most loving way, because talk about the greatest uptown problem any human beings could have is a studio like that saying, 'What's next?' Or 'How can we make something else?'
"But this movie was made as a complete experience. It wasn't meant to be a commercial for another movie. It wasn't meant to be any of that stuff. And, I think I get a great deal of joy making a movie like that."
Reynolds added: "Honestly, right in this moment, I have no idea if I'll ever wear that Deadpool suit again – I hope I do – but I don't know".
He also said he felt it was the time to "kind of hang it up for a bit" and explore other projects.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in cinemas.
