Marvel Studios was back at Comic-Con this year in a big way with two panels focused on its movies.

On Thursday (July 25), Hall H attendees were treated to a surprise screening of Deadpool & Wolverine alongside some special guests.

But that was just the taster for the main event on Saturday night (July 27) as Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige took to the stage to preview its next three movies... and announce a bombshell return.

If you missed what Marvel has already revealed at Comic-Con, we're here to help with a round-up of all the MCU news you need to know.

Be warned, there are Deadpool & Wolverine spoilers ahead.

Robert Downey Jr returns to the MCU

The biggest surprise of the night saw Robert Downey Jr's return to the MCU confirmed, but not as Iron Man.

What to Read Next

Instead, he'll take on the role of Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, in Avengers: Doomsday which will be directed, as recently revealed, by Joe and Anthony Russo.

The Russos will also direct Avengers: Secret Wars which will also feature Doctor Doom. "New mask, same task," Downey Jr said on stage after his shock reveal.

The Fantastic Four reveals new title

A drone show after the Deadpool & Wolverine screening revealed that The Fantastic Four would be part of the main Marvel Studios panel.

Matt Shakman was in attendance, confirming that the movie is set in New York in the "retro-future '60s", before a new title was revealed – The Fantastic Four: First Steps – as well as confirmation that Michael Giacchino is doing the score.

Filming is set to start on Tuesday (July 30) in London. And despite a group selfie taken in London last week, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn were in attendance at the panel.

Even though filming hasn't started, concept footage was shown which ended with Galactus looking through the Baxter Building.

It was also confirmed that the Fantastic Four would appear in both Avengers movies, which will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

An exclusive Thunderbolts* trailer was shown

The cast of Thunderbolts*, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour (in his Red Guardian suit) Sebastian Stan and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, were in Hall H to promote the upcoming team-up movie.

Stan said the best part of playing Bucky is that it's "like having nine lives" although he doesn't know "how many are left", while Louis-Dreyfus said that Valentina is out for "power and control" and also just wants to "kick ass in the Marvel universe".

Lewis Pullman was tight-lipped about who he's playing, only saying that his character is called Bob, which could be confirmation he's Sentry, aka Robert 'Bob' Reynolds.

The first trailer for the movie was shown, but it was exclusive to the Hall H crowd, so you won't be seeing it online.

Captain America 4 confirms Giancarlo Esposito's character

After a performance of 'Like a Prayer' to celebrate Deadpool & Wolverine's box-office success, the big Marvel Studios panel opened with Captain America: Brave New World.

Stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Blake Nelson and Harrison Ford were in attendance, while Feige promised it returns to the "grounded action" of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Mackie also took the chance to remind Tom Holland he now has his own movie in a throwback to a gag from 2018.

After fan speculation, it was also confirmed that Esposito's mystery character in the movie is the King of the Serpent Society who comic fans will know is Seth Voelker, aka Sidewinder.

A new clip from the movie was also shown, revealing that Tiamut (remember that Celestial stuck in the ocean) is Earth-616's source of Adamantium, but it was exclusive to the Hall H crowd.

Deadpool & Wolverine spoils cameo guest stars

The Ultimate Deadpool & Wolverine Celebration of Life panel took place on Thursday night (July 25) at 6.30pm PT (2.30am UK time). It was to mark the MCU movie's release with Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Shawn Levy and Kevin Feige in attendance.

Reynolds reflected on his first trip to Comic-Con with the first Deadpool movie, saying he was the "most nervous human being you would ever see". But far from being an ordinary Q&A, the panel was a front for a surprise screening of Deadpool & Wolverine.

After that had finished, Reynolds then introduced the major cameo guest stars in the movie: Dafne Keen, Jennifer Garner, Chris Evans, Channing Tatum and Wesley Snipes.

You can catch up almost all of the movies and TV shows of the MCU to date on Disney+.
