Deadpool & Wolverine is not suitable for all ages – this is everything you need to know in case you're planning a family trip to the cinema this weekend.

Since Deadpool officially became a Disney property and this third instalment was confirmed to be part of the MCU, fans were concerned that the character's adult and brutal style was going to be toned down. Apparently, that's not the case.

As Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige assured previous to the release, Deadpool is as savage as always. In fact, director Shawn Levy told Digital Spy the first sequence of Deadpool 3 is meant to clear any concerns from fans.

"You set a tone with the first five minutes of every movie, and maybe it was even more important on this because there were so many questions about: would the tone be sanitised? And the answer is an emphatic no," Levy explained.

So, can you take your children to see Deadpool & Wolverine in cinemas? Here's the answer.

What to Read Next

Deadpool & Wolverine's 15 rating means the movie is suitable for 15 years and over. Children under the age of 15 cannot go see this movie, not even if they are accompanied by their parents.

It's a different story in the US where the movie has been rated an R which, while it's the first MCU movie to receive such a rating, does mean children can see it as long as they go with an adult. Whether they can is up to the parents' discretion.

The BBFC has detailed some non-spoiler-y information about the content of the movie. The BBFC's 15 rating was a result of the movie containing "strong bloody violence, injury detail, sex references, very strong language", and the ratings page contains extra details about those categories.

As the BBFC points out, the movie contains "sustained fight scenes in which blood is spilt copiously, mainly by superhuman characters whose wounds heal immediately." There are also "isolated moments of stronger injury detail", like a character "skinned by fantastical forces, revealing his intestines".

As for the language, the BBFC warns there is "infrequent use of very strong language" and "more frequent strong language" including words like "f**k" and "motherf**ker".

The BBFC's assessment of Deadpool & Wolverine also mentions "crude humour" which includes "references to genital piercing, anal sex, necrophilia, paedophilia, oral sex and masturbation," as well as "fleeting comic references to suicide".
