The Strangers: Chapter 1 is available to watch at home now after being released on digital platforms in the US.

The horror film revival, which stars Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch, is available to buy or rent from Prime Video, iTunes and other digital platforms in the US.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 doesn't yet have a digital release date in the UK. You can, however, pre-order it from Prime Video and iTunes and watch it as soon as it is released by Lionsgate.

The film is a remake of the 2008 movie of the same name.

Petsch and Cruel Summer's Froy Gutierrez play a young couple whose lives are in danger when they encounter three masked strangers while staying at an Airbnb. Rachel Shenton and Ema Horvath also star.

The movie is the first in a trilogy series, with Petsch last month confirming to Digital Spy that the three films take place over the course of five days.

"I like to look at these three bodies of work as, especially as I play this character, really a character study on if you push a person past their breaking point, who are they left with at the end of the day," she said.

In Digital Spy's review, we described Petsch and Gutierrez as "an engaging, likeable lead duo", adding: "While the plot might not bring much new to the table, director Renny Harlin does bring a freshness to the set pieces."

The second part is expected to be released later this year, while the third and final chapter in the trilogy doesn't have a release window at the time of writing.

Petsch recently teased the direction in which the next two films will go in, teasing to Variety: "It's not necessarily all only home invasion, but [The Strangers] continue to invade her life in any way possible. Even in ways you don't think are possible, they're doing something f**ked up.

"We really bend the rules a lot, which is fun."
