Marvel star Benedict Wong has addressed his future in the franchise, saying he would like to reprise his role as Wong "at some point in the future".

Speaking to Radio Times about his role within the MCU, the actor suggested that his character "might" show up in a future project. "At some point in the future, yeah, I think he might come back," he teased.

First appearing in 2016's Doctor Strange, Wong has since appeared in multiple Marvel instalments and is the current Sorcerer Supreme and a close friend of Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange.

Wong went on to suggest that his character's promotion to Sorcerer Supreme could be included in a future storyline, adding: "I think now that he is Sorcerer Supreme, there's so much scope and leadership that he has now, and we'll see where he goes.

The actor also reflected on landing the role, revealing that he had been filming Marco Polo when he was approached by Disney.

"I got this mystery email from Marvel/Disney, saying 'We'd like you to audition for Lee,' which I kind of... you know, Wong is like Smith and Jones, so they couldn't kid me," he said.

"And yeah, it's kind of just spiralled into a much beloved character, which I'm all for. Now he's got the promotion of being the Sorcerer Supreme, we'll see what lies ahead."

"I'm a massive Marvel fan anyway, so it's a bit of a win-win for me."

While there's no confirmation on Wong's MCU future as of yet, Cumberbatch is set to make his return to the franchise after confirming that he would be reprising his role as Doctor Strange at some point in 2024.

"There are some Marvel capers in the making next year," he told the JW3 Speaker Series last year.
