Following the box-office success of the film, Yamazaki promises a "visceral experience" to those who will manage to catch the new version in theatres.
"I was very happy that the North American audience embraced Godzilla Minus One," the filmmaker said (via Deadline).
"And now I am very pleased to be able to release a black-and-white version for North America as well. Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color will bring a new and visceral experience to audiences."
Speaking on the impact of black-and-white colour grading, Yamazaki detailed the amount of work behind this new version that looks up to "the masters of black-and-white photography".

"The team did not just make the film monochrome, but coordinated it shot-by-shot, making full use of various mats, as if they were creating a new film," a statement on Godzilla Minus One's official website reads.
"The goal was to create an image tone as if taken by the masters of black-and-white photography," it continues.
"I asked them to unearth as much skin texture and landscape detail as possible, which were latent in the captured data. Then, Godzilla appeared, as terrifying and horrifying as in a documentary."
Set after World War II, the film deals with the emergence of Godzilla as Japan is on the verge of political and economic collapse.
Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color will be released in US cinemas on January 26. Godzilla Minus One is in UK cinemas now.
