With Halloween behind us, it's about to get Christmassy soon thanks to a re-release of Love Actually hitting cinemas later this month.

Despite its lack of diversity, recently acknowledged by writer-director Richard Curtis, and some problematic jokes, the 2003 star-studded holiday rom-com has become a staple of the festive season. The film is now getting the 20th anniversary treatment, returning to cinemas in a restored version in select countries.

The new Love Actually is set to make a comeback to UK cinemas on November 24, with other European countries, Korea, China, the US and Canada following suit in December.

The restored version will be preceded by a 10-minute video introduction of the film's most iconic moments, while its new home entertainment release will include a 30-minute featurette from the cast and filmmakers looking back on the making of the movie.

"I'm really excited about this new version of the film; it's never looked or sounded better," Curtis said in a statement. "And, although I'm slightly shocked by how old I've got, I loved the featurette, which is full of new thoughts and memories about the film from all the people who made it."

The film was produced by Working Title, who released a statement to mark the milestone by co-chairmen Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner: "As Working Title approaches its 40th anniversary year, it's exciting for us to acknowledge our wonderful long-term relationship with the creative genius Richard Curtis.

"We are so proud of all the films we have made with him and adore how they still resonate with audiences worldwide. Love Actually is a huge milestone in our history and reminds us of how very grateful we are of our continued relationship with Richard. We hope this new remastered version of the film will continue to bring many people together in joy and love this holiday season."

An ensemble romantic story leading up to Christmas, Love Actually stars some of the UK's most beloved actors, including Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Rowan Atkinson and the late Alan Rickman, to name but a few.

Love Actually is re-released in UK cinemas on November 24. In the US, the restored version hits theatres on December 8.
