M3GAN will officially return for a sequel on January 17, 2025.

Landing on the big screen just a couple of weeks ago, this sci-fi horror sensation centres on the titular, sentient AI doll who grows hostile towards anyone who dares to come between her and her owner.

Deadline broke the news of its follow-up, titled M3GAN 2.0, with both Allison Williams and Violet McGraw confirmed to reprise their characters Gemma and Cady.

Williams herself, who gained international attention for her chilling turn in Get Out, recently caught up with Digital Spy to discuss how M3GAN marked a huge career first for her.

"It was such a pleasure to be officially very involved in the movie from the beginning. I like to be that involved anyway [as executive producer], but this time, I had a credit that meant I was allowed to be — no-one could deny me drafts of the script. It was the best," she said.

"I absolutely loved it. I feel like it will be hard for me now to be in a movie where I'm not also producing because I just love all the details. I find it all fascinating and wonderful."

According to the actress, Jordan Peele's Oscar-winning "masterclass" that was Get Out stood her in good stead for a healthy relationship with the genre.

"I grew up being primarily terrified by scary movies. I'm not one of those people who watch it and then go on with my day and sleep normally at night. They really bother me — in a good way," Williams went on to reveal.

"But with Get Out, I had this experience of being in a theatre full of people many times while we were promoting the movie. And just hearing laughing or applause, like people talking to the screen, and I just thought: 'Well, this is such a fun experience to have'. And so when it came to M3GAN, immediately, when you're in the realm of a doll and you're in a horror-thriller genre, you know there's gonna be mixing of things and you know that those moments of humour are going to be really important."

M3GAN is now out in cinemas.
