Avatar: The Way of Water is a pretty long film, clocking in at 3 hours and 10 minutes (although that does include credits).
But that doesn't mean that things weren't cut from the movie. In fact, director James Cameron says he trimmed 10 minutes from his long-awaited sequel, but not for the purpose of creating a more brisk film.
Speaking with Esquire Middle East, Cameron explained: "I actually cut about 10 minutes of the movie targeting gunplay action. I wanted to get rid of some of the ugliness, to find a balance between light and dark.

"You have to have conflict, of course. Violence and action are the same thing, depending on how you look at it. This is the dilemma of every action filmmaker, and I'm known as an action filmmaker.
"I look back on some films that I've made, and I don't know if I would want to make that film now. I don't know if I would want to fetishize the gun, like I did on a couple of Terminator movies 30-plus years ago, in our current world.

While Cameron may be reticent to revisit something like The Terminator, he is working on a special that's due out early next year in which he will prove once and for all that Rose couldn't save Jack at the end of Titanic.
Avatar: The Way of Water is out in cinemas now.
