Avatar: The Way of Water star Bailey Bass has revealed the sweet on-set gesture she received from Zoe Saldaña.

As part of the new Na'vi clan called the Metkayina, which is headed up by Fear the Walking Dead's Cliff Curtis' Tonowari and Kate Winslet's Ronal, Bass stars as Reya.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Bass revealed what advice she received from veteran Na'vi actors Saldaña and Sam Worthington saying that their actions on set made more of an impact than their words.

"I think it was more their actions than really anything they said. They immediately treated us like family," Bass explained.

Being made to feel like a part of the Avatar family clearly stood out for Bass as she recalled a moment on the set: "I think one of the sweetest things Zoe did was, she hugged our parents. Like, not only did she hug us, but she welcomed them, like they're a big part of our tribe."

In the highly anticipated sequel, Jake and Neytiri have Na'vi children including Jamie Flatters' Neteyam who said he had to cover his eyes when Saldaña was giving out hugs.

"I turned around while she did that, yeah. I covered my eyes," said the star as his co-star Bass confirmed that his mum did, in fact, receive the hug.

Meanwhile, Trinity Bliss who plays Flatters' Na'vi sibling Tuktirey said: "I definitely have gotten some amazing advice. But for me, just watching them work, and being on that set with them, and watching them do their thing, because they're pros, was really great. And sometimes it was the little things, like just getting to hug them, and say good morning."

Avatar: The Way of Water is released in cinemas on December 16.
