Supernatural and The Winchesters star Jensen Ackles has revealed that he had been in consideration for the lead role in Deadpool.
While the role of Wade Wilson ultimately went to Ryan Reynolds, Ackles had briefly been in line for it. "There was definitely a movie that I was very much in talks about," he said, while attending a Supernatural convention in Phoenix, Arizona (via CBR).
"I wasn't available, so the train just kind of stopped there. But, had I been available, I would've had to jump through the studio hoops and jump through producer hoops and stuff. But I had a really good shot, and it's a movie that I really, really like."

Ackles didn't immediately give away which film he was referring to, but did later confirm he was referring to Deadpool when asked by a fan, adding: "It was probably a good thing because my ex-girlfriend was on there and so that probably would have been awkward, so it probably worked out for the best."
Despite missing out on playing the Merc with a Mouth, there are no hard feelings from Ackles, who said that he thought the whole cast were "amazing".

Deadpool 3 is currently in production and will see Reynolds star opposite Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
