Marvel Studios has yet to assemble the Fantastic Four cast for their MCU debut, but we do now know for certain who's directing the new movie.
The announcement was made during today's (September 10) big panel at D23 Expo, where it was confirmed that Matt Shakman, who worked on WandaVision, will direct the new movie.
Jon Watts was set to direct Fantastic Four but dropped out in April 2022. "Making three Spider-Man films was an incredible and life-changing experience for me. I'm eternally grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years," he said.
"I'm hopeful we'll work together again and I can't wait to see the amazing vision for Fantastic Four brought to life."
Shakman had been set to direct Star Trek 4 but seemingly dropped out of that long-gestating project to rejoin the MCU.
It had been thought that Kevin Feige would also reveal the new cast of Fantastic Four, including potentially the return of John Krasinski as Reed Richards after his MCU debut in Doctor Strange 2.

However, Feige noted that we'll have to wait until the next D23 Expo for more news on the movie.
At Comic-Con in July, Fantastic Four was confirmed to be the first movie of Phase 6. The new movie will be released in cinemas on November 8, 2024, and it's been teased that it won't be an origin story.
"A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they've never seen before?" Kevin Feige said. "We've set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen."
Well, here's hoping it's a third time lucky for the superhero team on the big screen.
Fantastic Four is released in cinemas on November 8, 2024.
