Frozen directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are reuniting for a new meta Disney movie called Wish.
At Disney's D23 Expo this weekend in Anaheim, it was revealed that West Side Story's Oscar-winning Ariana DeBose will star in this new animated film as Asha, who is the 17-year-old protagonist, alongside Encanto's Alan Tudyk.
Wish will take place in Rosas, also known as the kingdom of wishes, and it focuses on "the power of wishes, and it blends the classic watercolour-esque Disney animation style with a newer, CGI look".
Singer-songwriter Julia Michaels, who has also written for artists like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, and is a singer-songwriter with hits like 'Issues' and 'All Your Exes' to her name, will be writing the original songs for this movie.
Jennifer Lee has written the film, and Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn are directing. DeBose also performed one of the original songs from the film, 'More of Us', at the expo.
More announcements have been coming from the D23 Expo all through the weekend as Disney revealed the prequel film to The Lion King titled Mufasa: The Lion King with director Barry Jenkins at the helm.

The studio also confirmed the Snow White live-action feature starring The Hunger Games star Rachel Zegler as the titular character and Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot will join the cast as her stepmother, the Evil Queen.
It also unveiled the first trailer for The Little Mermaid, the live-action remake of the popular animated classic which features Halle Bailey as Ariel as she belts out the iconic song from the film, 'Part of Your World'.
The film will also feature four new songs created by Disney icon Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda, while the cast also includes Javier Bardem as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina and Daveed Diggs are also a part of the cast and voice Flounder, Scuttle and Sebastian, respectively.
There is currently no release date for Wish.
