The Predator franchise's latest offering Prey has set an impressive record across streaming platforms.

Prey was released on Hulu and Disney+ this month (August 5) after premiering at Comic-Con. Despite only being available to watch for a few days, the film is now the most-watched on the platforms, according to 20th Century Studios.

"#PreyMovie is the #1 premiere on Hulu to date, including all film and TV series debuts," tweeted its official Twitter account.

Set in 1719, Prey focuses on a young Comanche warrior, Naru (Amber Midthunder), who is tasked with battling against the Predator after it attacks her camp in the Great Plains.

The film's producer Jhane Myers recently revealed to Digital Spy that Prey was initially meant to be spoken only in the Native American Numic language.

While the movie ended up being produced in English, a Comanche dub is also available to watch, something which Myers described as "incredible" for Native American representation.

In its 5-star review, Digital Spy described the film as a "must see triumph," writing: "Even the most ardent Predator fan might argue that the franchise should have been left to rest after The Predator underwhelmed after showing initial promise.

"If that had happened though, we wouldn't have got Prey. We'd say it was the best Predator movie since the original, but that feels like damning it with faint praise. It's a terrific movie in its own right that revitalises the franchise by stripping it back to basics."

Prey is streaming on Disney+, where you can also watch Predator, Predator 2, and Predators.
