The MCU's new Fantastic Four movie, which is set to kick off Phase 6 in 2024, will share a key detail with Spider-Man: Homecoming – the fact that it will not be an origin story.
The film won't be wasting time trying to establish a backstory for its characters, at least according to Marvel head Kevin Feige.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Feige said that the characters are so well-known that they don't see a point in starting from the beginning.
"A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they've never seen before?" he said.

"We've set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen," Feige added, stating that this team of superheroes are responsible for basically launching the Marvel Comics universe back in 1961.

Spider-Man: Homecoming, which starred Tom Holland as everyone's favourite web-slinger, served as the debut solo film for MCU's Spider-Man and did not delve into the character's origin story like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's debut Spider-Man movies did.
The fact that Peter Parker is Spider-Man was already established in the film. It also did not spend time showing us Uncle Ben's death for the third time, instead focusing on Peter's regular high school life and Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man becoming his reluctant mentor of sorts.

Marvel unveiled an insane roster of movies and Disney+ shows, including Fantastic Four, at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. They laid out plans for Phase 4, 5 and 6, announced the return of Daredevil, dropped two exclusive Hall H trailers and announced two Avengers movies (releasing in the same year!) to round out the Multiverse Saga.
And there are more announcements to come, as Marvel has said they already have release dates locked in for Phase 7 as well.
Fantastic Four is expected to release in theatres on November 8, 2024.
