Deadpool lovers might have just solved the mystery surrounding the threequel's release date.

Some were disappointed when Marvel boss Kevin Feige failed to mention the Merc with a Mouth's third, hotly-anticipated outing at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, where Digital Spy was present.

A look at the slate for Phase Five in the MCU prompted fans to try and work out the possible release date of Deadpool 3. Kicking off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February 2023 and going through July 2024, this fifth era in the Marvel superhero universe might include Ryan Reynolds' raucous Wade Wilson aka Deadpool.

It seems that an "Untitled Marvel Film" is still scheduled to be released on February 16, 2024.

While it isn't clear whether this movie will actually be Deadpool 3, some fans are pretty sure this is the case. This would mean that Reynolds may make his official MCU debut in the role in Phase Five, with Phase Six set to start with a Fantastic Four movie in November 2024.

What to Read Next

"Be patient, Deadpool 3 will most likely be released in February 2024. Just because Kevin Feige didn't talk about it during the SDCC doesn't mean he's not in Phase 5, he wants to surprise us for D23," one fan theorised on Twitter, suggesting that the big announcement might be made during this year's D23 Expo, held in September.

"February 16, 2024 still is claimed by Disney to be an MCU film release but they didn't announce one for that date last night... I bet it's Deadpool 3," another person wrote.

Meanwhile, Wade Wilson has quietly sneaked his way into the MCU in an unexpected way: at the newly launched Avengers Assemble: Flight Force attraction at Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris.

Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are streaming now on Disney+, and also available on digital download, DVD and Blu-ray.
