Marvel icon Chris Evans claims a proposed return to the role of Captain America would need to be "perfect" for him to accept.
The actor, who'll chase down Ryan Gosling in The Gray Man next month, played the First Avenger for eight years overall, hanging up the stars and stripes vibranium shield in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
Shortly after, Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson assumed the Cap mantle in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but calls for Evans to come back are still ringing around.

"That seems to be something people would like to see," he told ComicBook.
"I don't want to disappoint anybody but it's tough to... It was such a good run and I'm so happy with it. It's so precious to me. It would have to be perfect.

"It just would be scary to rattle something that is, again, so, so dear to me. That role means so much to me. So, to revisit it, it would be a tall order."
Three years ago, Evans highlighted how another roll of the dice could "sour" the character, which DS agrees with.

Further to that, his "really special" Endgame experience is clearly at the back of his mind when a return to the MCU is on the table.
"You almost feel like you're living in a memory; you feel like it's almost like the moment's already passed, so you're really just trying to soak it in and just appreciate what this journey has been like," he told The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast in 2020.
"In Endgame, there are just so many great moments. I love scenes with [Robert] Downey [Jnr]. I love seeing the evolution of those two characters. They usually give Cap great motivational speeches and things like that. Any of those scenes where there's all of us together, and it just is a real reflective and special moment."
Avengers: Endgame is out now on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D, 4K and digital download, and is available on Disney+.
