Run, Rose, Rose, a movie adaptation of Dolly Parton and James Patterson's book of the same name, has been picked up by Sony Pictures for cinema release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Parton is also set to star in the movie and Legally Blonde's Reese Witherspoon is coming on as a producer under the production company Hello Sunshine.
The project synopsis reads: "A young woman who heads to Nashville to pursue her music-making dreams is taken under the wing of a giant female musical icon. The source of their heart-wrenching songs are secrets both have tried to hide."

As well as co-writing the novel, co-producing and starring in the adaptation, Parton will also be writing original songs for the movie. This comes after she released a companion album alongside the book.
Parton said: "I am thrilled to be bringing Run, Rose, Run to Sony Pictures. I'm looking forward to working with Sony and being in the movie as well. It's a good time to be excited, working with some of my favorite people."

Run, Rose, Run's release date is yet to be announced.
