Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu has addressed rumours about his appearance in Margot Robbie's upcoming Barbie movie.

Namely, is the Marvel hero about to play Ken?

In an interview with The Independent, Simu remained secretive, admitting that he's enjoying rumours surrounding his possible character.

Amid whispers that Barbie will feature some kind of multiverse with numerous iterations of the iconic doll, Simu said: "Honestly, the discourse online is giving me life."

"With every casting announcement or bit of news, they're like, 'What is this?' And that's perfect – the less you know about it the better."

One thing Simu will admit to is extensive body hair removal. (What else?)

"Waxing has been an education to say the least," he revealed. "It was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I have such a newfound admiration for the incredibly brave women who go through this on a monthly basis."

For now, it appears that Simu is giving nothing away about his turn in Barbie – well, not to anyone other than his parents, that is.

Conceding that his mum and dad do actually know if he's to be our new Ken, the actor added: "We've come so far, and I hate the idea of keeping anything from them. They're my best friends now. And you tell your best friends everything."

Barbie, which Margot Robbie has promised will come "with a lot of baggage", is believed to be in production as we speak, signalling a potential release date of 2023.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is streaming on Disney+.
