The first trailer for the new Predator prequel Prey has been released.
The action-thriller, originally called Skulls, takes place 300 years ago in the Comanche Nation. It is the first female-led movie in the franchise that will follow the story of Naru (Amber Midthunder), a skilled warrior who has been raised by legendary hunters in the Great Plains.
Her camp is attacked by an unknown threat and she sets out to hunt the prey, which turns out to be a highly-evolved alien predator. The alien matches her skills with technologically advanced weapons, leading to a vicious showdown that is teased in the trailer.

In the teaser, Naru runs out of the woods into the open field before crouching amongst the wheat and raising her bow and arrow towards the threat lurking between the trees. The footage cuts out before the predator is seen...
The latest instalment in the franchise is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison, and produced by John Davis and Jhane Myers, who is a member of the Comanche nation herself.
It was important to the team that Prey portrayed an accurate representation of the Comanche to make sure that the film was authentic to Indigenous peoples.
Throughout her work, Myers is known for her dedication to producing films surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet nations, honouring the legacies of the Native communities.

The cast welcomes a host of Native and First Nation actors into the franchise including leading star Amber Midthunder, newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope.
Last year, Davis told Collider that the prequel would go back to "what made the original Predator work".
"It's the ingenuity of a human being who won't give up, who's able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force," he said.
Prey will be released on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US in August 5.
