Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness spoilers follow.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness almost included a rather bloody decapitation scene, according to writer Michael Waldron.
While the movie featured Dr Nicodemus West (Michael Stuhlbarg) in a smaller role, the screenwriter has revealed that a more substantial – and ultimately fateful – part was in store for the surgeon originally.

Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Waldron explained that he was meant to feature in both the original Earth-616 and Earth-838 universes.

"Dr West was alive in that universe and worked at Illuminati headquarters," he said, confirming that the plan was for him to die alongside the rest of the Illuminati members at the hands of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen).
"He died like Samuel L Jackson in Jurassic Park – not like in Deep Blue Sea, although that would have been amazing," Waldron revealed, noting Jackson's dino death off-screen, with only an arm left behind.
"Basically, they backed into an elevator and Dr West's head rolled out," he said. "So we were going there from the beginning."

While it would have no doubt been a gruesome addition to the movie, Waldron revealed it was cut as it "just didn't work out schedule-wise" for Stuhlbarg.
Elsewhere, Waldron revealed that Deadpool almost made an appearance in the movie, telling ComicBook in a recent interview: "I think we talked about everything in this movie.
"So, [it] would've been crazy to not raise that, but it ultimately didn't feel like... It just didn't feel the right place. But yeah, of course we talked about it."
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is out now in UK and US cinemas.
