Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne has revealed what he has learnt from his time in the hit franchise.

The actor is set to reprise his role as Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore this month alongside Jude law, who will reprise his role as a younger Albus Dumbledore.

While we wait for the movie to hit cinemas, the Oscar winner was on hand to reflect on his time playing Newt and what he has learnt from the eccentric character throughout the series.

"I adore Newt, and there are many things that I love about him. I love that he's an incredibly empathetic person. He looks for the good in people. He's also very happy in his own company, and in the company of creatures. He is someone that enjoys silence. I'm someone that, in my anxiety, tends to feel too many words."

Redmayne then went on to discuss the "various epithets" of Newt which he now tries to "live by" in his everyday life.

"One is that worrying means you suffer twice, which was in the first movie," he recalls. "I am a great worrier and I always tell myself that if the horrendous thing is going to happen, there's no point worrying about it as it's going to happen anyway and then you're just going to have doubled your pain."

The star also gave a small insight into the series' third instalment with a (rough) quote of what his character tells Dumbledore.

"There's something that he says to Dumbledore in this movie which I adore which is that, I'm butchering it here, but we all make mistakes in life, but you can try and make things better," Redmayne continues. "It's the trying that counts. It's the aspiring to make things better that counts."

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is out in UK cinemas on April 8 and in US cinemas on April 15.
