Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will not feature any kind of reunion for Stephen Strange and Christine Palmer, a Marvel Studios producer has confirmed.

Although a recent trailer for Doctor Strange 2 offered a glimpse of Rachel McAdams' character in a wedding dress, we now know for definite that it's not Strange waiting for her at the end of the aisle.

Mind you, it's not exactly surprising that Strange's priorities lie elsewhere.

Amid rumours that love could potentially be on the cards for Benedict Cumberbatch's superhero, producer Charlie Palmer insisted that the former couple "are not back together, unfortunately."

"As we saw at the end of Doctor Strange, he chose to stay in the Sanctum, meaning he can't entertain his selfish desires," Palmer explained (via ComicBook.com).

"He would've loved to stay with Christine at the end of that movie, but he did the hard thing. He said, 'No. I'm going to be a superhero and defend our reality. I have to move on.'"

As well as battling with the havoc unleashed by the multiverse, Doctor Strange might also spend some of the upcoming movie overcoming heartbreak.

"Our movie shows him dealing with the decisions he's made," Palmer added. "He might regret how things ended with Christine; he still carries a torch for her."

Meanwhile, in other Multiverse of Madness news, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds recently denied the Merc with a Mouth's involvement in Doctor Strange 2.

"I guess I'm really not supposed to say anything about that," he said, before doubling down in more certain terms: "I promise you I'm not in the movie."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is due to be released on May 5, 2022.
