A Quiet Place 3 has been officially confirmed and has earned itself a spot on the 2025 cinematic calendar, four years after the sci-fi horror's sequel came out.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Krasinski (who co-wrote and directed the first two movies) announced this update at a Paramount investor day.

A Quiet Place Part II, which starred Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Djimon Hounsou, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, has made $297.3 million to date at the global box office.

Previously discussing his writing process, Krasinski recalled: "It's interesting, I genuinely hadn't thought about a second one when I was doing the first one. However, I really had these questions while I was doing it.

"I put the fires out in the distance in the first one, and I always thought to myself, 'Wouldn't it be cool if we got to explore where those fires lead to? Who's on the other end of those fires?'

"But I never thought that there would be a sequel. So then when I actually came around to writing the sequel, I started with the fires," he continued.

"And so this time, I think when my brain started wondering [about questions like], 'What would this mean later on?' I started to write down notes in case I could prepare myself for a third one."

Away from the central storyline, there's also a spin-off from A Quiet Place ticking over in the background, which initially landed in the palm of Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter).

He left the project in October to focus on an original sci-fi, which lead to Pig director Michael Sarnoski taking the reins just last month.

A Quiet Place 3 will open in cinemas during 2025.
