Daredevil actor Charlie Cox has opened up about keeping his Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo secret, admitting he joked about it with fellow secret star Andrew Garfield.

Despite endless denials in the press leading up to the Marvel blockbuster's premiere last year, both actors did indeed reprise their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Peter Parker/Spider-Man, respectively.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy while promoting his series Kin, Cox opened up about the difficulty of keeping the secret, and whether he had a chance to talk to his friend Garfield.

"We've been mates for many years," he explained. "Someone sent me a video… Someone had cut a video on YouTube of me and him, not together, in interviews and stumbling over questions, trying not to answer.

"It was like, someone had cut together a video of us going, 'I… well… I don't know. I can't say.' And just stumbling.

"Someone sent it to me. I thought it was very funny, and I forwarded it to him. But we haven't actually talked about it," Cox added.

For his part, Garfield previously admitted he quite enjoyed lying about his appearance to journalists, telling TheWrap: "It was stressful, I'm not gonna lie. It was rather stressful but also weirdly enjoyable.

"It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun."

He did admit he felt somewhat bad about lying, however, adding: "There were moments where I was like, 'God, I hate lying.' I don't like to lie and I'm not a good liar but I kept framing it as a game."

Kin series 1 premieres on February 24 on Sundance Now (an add on subscription via Amazon Prime Video Channels).

Spider-Man: Far From Home is available now on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download. Spider-Man: No Way Home is out now in UK and US cinemas.
