Among the endless speculation about Spider-Man: No Way Home was the persistent rumour that Charlie Cox would be in the movie.

While not on the same scale as the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield speculation, it was something that had to be constantly addressed by the star himself. This is despite the fact that in April 2020, Cox revealed that he was "not involved in it".

That didn't stop fans being excited by the prospect of the return of Matt Murdock, bringing Daredevil back into the MCU fold. They even thought that the first trailer showed Cox's arms, which led to another unique denial from the star: "I can promise you those are not my forearms."

This seemed to put an end to it, but then in December 2021, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige revealed that if Daredevil were to return in the MCU, it would be Cox playing him. Cue another round of speculation, especially as Kingpin was popping up in Hawkeye.

So, now that No Way Home is out, does Cox return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil? Only read on past the photo if you want to know.

The answer is yes, yes he does, although it's a pretty brief appearance compared to the roles that Garfield and Maguire play.

What to Read Next

As speculated by the fans since Far From Home's bombshell ending, Matt Murdock has been hired by Peter Parker to help him with his legal woes. Cox's only scene comes after Peter and his friends are questioned by the Department of Damage Control, following his unmasking and Mysterio's allegations.

In his one and only scene, Matt sits down with Peter, Aunt May and Happy Hogan to tell Peter that no charges are being brought against him. Happy isn't so lucky as he's being investigated for missing Stark Technologies equipment, but he gets away with it in the end.

Matt does have a warning for Peter though: "You may have dodged your legal troubles, but things will get much worse. There is still the court of public opinion."

As if to highlight this, a brick is thrown through the window at that moment. It's behind Matt, but he manages to catch it in mid-air without even looking at it. "How did you do that?," Peter asks, with Matt replying: "I'm a really good lawyer."

Clearly, Matt has done a better job at keeping his superhero identity a secret than Peter managed to do as he has no idea who his lawyer really is.

This particular scene was teased by Holland ahead of No Way Home's release as he spoke of one of the "coolest scenes ever". "It's four people sitting at a table, having a conversation about what it's like to be a superhero, and it was amazing," he teased.

Unfortunately, it's the only time we see Matt in No Way Home and at no point does he suit up and join the fight as Daredevil. Here's hoping it won't be too long until we see that actually happen again in the MCU though.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is out now in cinemas.
