Spider-Man's Kirsten Dunst addresses No Way Home cameo rumours

Despite the rumours flying, Kirsten Dunst has assured fans she will not be making an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Speaking to Total Film, the actress – who played Mary Jane in the original Spider-Man trilogy – said: "I'm not in the movie, no. I know there's rumours, right?"

However, she hasn't ruled out making an appearance in a future Spider-Man film, fans will be pleased to hear.

At a recent screening of her upcoming film The Power of the Dog, she told Variety: "I would do it. Why not? That would be fun."

"I'd be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies," she joked.

Rumours have been circulating about a number of familiar faces appearing in Spider-Man, since it was announced that Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx's Electro are returning.

Andrew Garfield has shut down speculation that he will be making an appearance in No Way Home. There was even an apparent on-set photo of him and Tobey Maguire reuniting for the upcoming instalment, but he assured fans it was "a Photoshop".

"I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say, like, 'I recommend that you chill,'" Garfield added in another interview. "I can't speak for anything else apart from myself, they might be doing something. But I ain't got a call."

Tom Holland has also attempted to dispel the rumours of past Spider-Man iterations popping up in the film. "People don't believe me when I say that [Maguire and Garfield] are not coming back," he said. "But people are going to have to believe me at some point."

Meanwhile, in Dunst's next project, The Power of the Dog, the actress stars alongside fellow Marvel star Benedict Cumberbatch in a dramatic adaptation of Thomas Savage's 1967 novel of the same name.

The western premiered at the Venice Film Festival back in September, and will arrive on Netflix on December 1.
