Spider-Man: No Way Home may not be out for another four months, but it's already broken a big record previously held by another major Marvel superhero film, Avengers: Endgame.

The first trailer for the upcoming instalment in the Spider-Man franchise was released on Monday (August 23) after officially debuting at CinemaCon, and has gone on to become a HUGE hit with fans. So big, in fact, that Deadline is reporting it was viewed a whopping 355.5 million times in just 24 hours. Woah.

Marvel has quite a lot of success in this arena though, as the record was previously held by the Avengers gang when the Endgame trailer dropped back in December 2018. That trailer was viewed 289 million times in 24 hours – putting it 66.5 million views behind the new record holder.

Before that, the record was held by, you guessed it, Marvel with the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, which obtained 230 million views in the same time period in November 2017.

Spider-Man: No Way Home's official Twitter account acknowledged the impressive feat on the social media site, tweeting: "nbd, just broke the internet and the 24-hour global record for the most watched and talked about trailer ever! #SpiderManNoWayHome." Nbd, indeed.

What makes things even more impressive is the fact that a few fans may have already seen the trailer – which you can check out for yourself above – a few hours before it was officially unveiled by Sony/Marvel.

The trailer for the Tom Holland and Zendaya flick allegedly leaked online over the weekend before it got its official first airing for cinema fans.

Sony Pictures was quick to handle the apparent breach though. Per The Hollywood Reporter, tweets containing media related to the movie sneak peek were taken down and replaced with a copyright error that read: "The media has been disabled in response to a report from the copyright owner."

Leak or no leak, it seems like this trailer drop was a HUGE success.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is available now on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download. Spider-Man: No Way Home has a December 17, 2021 release date.
