Terminator Salvation director McG heads back to his bright and breezy Charlie's Angels roots with action-comedy This Means War.
The film sees Chris Pine and Tom Hardy play CIA agents who both fall for Reese Witherspoon's Lauren. The pair wage war across Los Angeles in a blockbuster McG says has dashes of 007, True Lies and Mr & Mrs Smith.
Speaking to Digital Spy about his formative movie-watching years and their influence on This Means War, McG said: "I spent my youth in my underwear masturbating to Alfred Hitchcock pictures.
"It's a tremendous influence - this picture is designed to be a little bit like this, a little bit like that, but at the end you go, 'I can't really put it into a box'."
This Means War opens in UK cinemas on March 2.
