Reese Witherspoon has said that This Means War was quite a change of pace from the films she usually stars in.

The actress is perhaps best known for her roles in romantic comedies or her Oscar-winning performance in Walk the Line, but told Reuters that she was interested in spy comedy This Means War because of the movie's action and adventure.

"It was a great opportunity to try something new, yet I felt like it had enough comedy that it felt fresh," Witherspoon explained. "Combining it with this very viable spy story made it feel new.

"But I had a few stunt doubles because there were things like driving cars, jumping off buildings, cars tumbling towards me, things on fire."

Witherspoon went on to say that it was "lovely" working with her This Means War co-star Chris Pine.

"Chris is very thoughtful and earnest. What I didn't expect was this wonderful charismatic charm," she said. "He has a composure that's lovely to be around. He's really grateful for everything he has in his life."
