Disney's Cruella has followed on from Maleficent in creating a big-screen origin story for one of The House of Mouse's most famous villains, and it's proved so successful that development has already begun on a sequel.
The formula clearly works, and is more creatively interesting than just doing straightforward live-action remakes, so the question is: where to go next?

That's what Variety asked the Cruella cast in a virtual interview recently, with the consensus being that The Little Mermaid's Sea Witch Ursula (soon to be played by Melissa McCarthy) deserves it the most.
Emma Stone said: "She's an octopus and the world you would get to live in, like Ursula's parents and what happened there. You've never really seen a non-human Disney villain be explored in that way."
Emma Thompson had a jokey explanation for why Ursula is such a poor unfortunate soul, stating: "The parents keep giving her a shirt that only has four arms. They really mess her up with that from a very early age, so she's constantly trying to fit two arms into each hole. That would really mess you up, wouldn't it?"

Their co-stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser went for a Scar prequel, a Jafar origin story, and, errrrm Darren Aronofsky doing Lilo and Stitch, respectively.
