The Suicide Squad's Idris Elba and John Cena are already set to reunite for Amazon action film Heads of State.
While plot details are yet to be revealed, Deadline reports that the film will be a '90s-style two-hander that feels like a cross between Air Force Once and Hobbs and Shaw, bringing together an unlikely couple in a high-stakes situation.
Harrison Query will write the script for the movie, while Peter Safran and John Rickard are on board as producers.
James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will see Elba and Cena star as Bloodsport and Peacemaker, respectively, with the latter already set to get his own spin-off series for HBO Max.
Gunn is set to write the Peacemaker and will also direct a number of episodes, fitting the series into his busy schedule alongside Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3.
Announcing the series on Instagram last month, the filmmaker wrote: "I'm over-the-moon excited to be working on #PEACEMAKER with my pals @johncena & #TheSuicideSquad producer Peter Safran on this new @hbomax original series from @warnerbrostv @dccomics."

Cena also shared his own excitement on Twitter, writing: "Working alongside @JamesGunn on #SuicideSquad was an absolute masterclass in how to best bring beloved characters to life in a new and fun way. I cannot wait for the #DCUniverse to experience more of absurdity that is the Peacemaker in this new project on @hbomax !!!"
For The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker and Bloodsport will be joining veteran characters Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).
The Suicide Squad is currently due for release on August 6, 2021.
