Star Wars fans may have figured out if Matt Smith really is in The Rise of Skywalker

The is-he-isn't-he over whether Matt Smith is actually in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been confusing, to say the least.

The former Doctor Who star was reported to be involved in the next Star Wars movie last year, though he later said he wasn't actually appearing.

"As far as I can tell, I'm definitely not," he said earlier this year.

However, one fan has claimed to have found evidence that the actor will appear in Episode IX after all, at least going by a Topps trading card.

The picture - which you can check out here - depicts a blue character wearing a mask alongside the caption "a new face", with many fans suggesting that the facial features look similar to Smith's.

We guess we'll just have to wait until the movie is released to find out the truth.

Meanwhile, star Daisy Ridley has revealed that The Rise of Skywalker will "deal" with the ambiguous relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren.

"It does not bother me, people writing theories," she said. "It's really fun hearing them.

"Plus, because I know what's sort of going to happen, I think it'll be really interesting to see people's reaction to [the final film]. Obviously, there's this whole Reylo thing and some people are very passionate about it, some aren't."

Ridley added: "[Director] JJ [Abrams] does deal it [it]. It's a very complex issue. People talk about toxic relationships and whatever it is. It's no joke and I think it's dealt with really well because it's not skimmed over."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a release date of Thursday, December 19 in the UK and Friday, December 20 in the US.
