While there are plenty of people who consider them a little cynical and underwhelming, Disney's slew of remakes have been doing big numbers at the box office, with The Lion King remake being the biggest of them all.
In fact, the movie has set some new records for the House of Mouse, although one of those records will depend on how you interpret the film.
As reported by Forbes, the film has made £1.334 billion worldwide. That makes it the company's biggest film to not be a part of the Marvel or Star Wars franchises. It's also the biggest musical of all time.

Now here's where it gets a bit confusing. Disney has been referring to the film recently as another of its live-action remakes, which would mean The Lion King is its biggest non Marvel/Star Wars live-action movie, overtaking Beauty and the Beast.
But a lot of people, including Wikipedia, would call the remake a computer animated movie that just happens to look live-action. In that case, it would be considered the biggest animated movie of all time, overtaking Frozen.
