Jake Gyllenhaal has opened up about his role in the Disney misfire Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Adapted from a mega successful gaming franchise, Gyllenhaal played the lead role of royal fugitive Dastan in the 2010 blockbuster, but his star power couldn't save the project from scathing reviews or claims of whitewashing.
The film currently holds a whimpering 37% on Rotten Tomatoes, and speaking to ET Canada during the Spider-Man: Far From Home press tour, Gyllenhaal revealed that he regrets making the Disney film, calling it one of the biggest missteps of his career.

"I think I learned a lot from that movie in that I spend a lot of time trying to be very thoughtful about the roles that I pick and why I'm picking them," he said.
"And you're bound to slip up and be like, 'That wasn't right for me', or 'That didn't fit perfectly'. There have been a number of roles like that. And then a number of roles that do."

Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal's latest role is certainly one to celebrate, as he'll be starring in Spider-Man: Far From Home as interdimensional traveller Quentin Beck – AKA the Marvel comics favourite Mysterio.
