Note: Contains spoilers for The Predator.
Before its release, we knew that The Predator had reshot the final act of the movie with "about three-quarters" of it being rewritten.
This included an apparent ending that saw the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger in a cameo role, one that director Shane Black totally understood Arnie turning down. But now it seems the ending could have brought back another iconic movie character.
Spoilers are ahead, just in case you haven't seen the movie yet.
The ending of the movie sees the introduction of the 'Predator Killer' suit that can be used to defeat future Predators. It's just a suit in the final version of the movie, but the 'Predator Killer' was initially none other than Ripley from Alien.
Hollywood artist Yuri Everson revealed the alternate ending on Instagram who said they filmed three different endings that were "all variations of a 'Predator Killer'".
What to Read Next
"This unused ending was Predator Killer Ripley wearing the breather mask we created for the film. You can see her name tag there on her costume. Breanna Watkins played Ripley under the mask instead of Sigourney Weaver," he explained.
In another post, Everson unveiled a different alternate ending that would have seen Newt – killed off in Alien 3 – as the 'Predator Killer', with Breanna Watkins again playing the character under the suit.
Given how it would have messed up the timeline of the combined franchise, perhaps it's a good thing they didn't go with either ending.
And it also means that Alien Vs Predator 3 will NEVER happen.
The Predator is available to buy now on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD and in an exclusive steelbook.
