It's that time of year when Elf gets its annual rewatch (or five), but for some fans, they're now viewing it in an entirely new light.

Although it's been out there since 2003 if you wanted to look at IMDb, certain Elf fans are having their minds blown by the fact that it has a connection to classic 1983 festive movie A Christmas Story.

Peter Billingsley played the central role of Ralphie in A Christmas Story and he also pops up in Elf in an uncredited role as Ming Ming, one of the elves at the North Pole who tries to reassure Buddy that he belongs there.

And for the fans who didn't know this before, they're starting to feel like right cotton-headed ninny muggins.

You might even be more surprised to know that Billingsley was an executive producer on Iron Man and popped up in the movie as one of Obadiah's scientists, so he's also technically responsible for the birth of the MCU.

What to Read Next

He's a close friend of Elf and Iron Man director Jon Favreau with the two also working together on Zathura: A Space Adventure and rom-com Couples Retreat which starred Favreau and was directed by Billingsley.

Oh, and Billingsley also starred in another festive movie, Four Christmases starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, although that's not as well-loved as Elf, obviously.

Elf is available to watch on Amazon Prime now.
