The long-awaited PC version of GTA 5 is set to be the best version of the acclaimed open-world game, combining the many new features of the recent PS4 and Xbox One editions - including a first-person view and a roster of new vehicles - with a vast array of high-end visual options, such as 4K resolution support.
For us, the most anticipated feature is the support for player-created modifications. From the silly to the serious, GTA 4 saw a huge community change the game in all sorts of surprising ways. Constantly breathing new life into the game, it kept us captivated for years following its release.
We imagine GTA 5 will be exactly same, and so here's a handful of our favourite mods that we'd love to see added to Rockstar's latest open-world masterpiece.
1. Fly and cause mayhem as Superman
Saints Row 4 recently showed us the joys of exploring huge open-worlds with super human abilities – including bounding over buildings in a single leap - and so the chance to fly round the gorgeous world of Los Santos would be one we couldn't pass up after what we've seen in the GTA 4 mod.
Superman does more than defy gravity, though, and his invincibility and heat vision makes the game's rampages against the police and military all the more chaotic. And if Superman isn't your hero of choice, there's also mods for Iron Man, Hulk and Green Goblin, too.

2. Make driving more realistic
If you're looking for more realism as you drive around GTA's metropolitan landscape, then there are a few mods that cater for that. A popular GTA 4 mod tweaks the handling of every vehicle in the game – from its supercars through to bikes and helicopters – changing everything from the way they steer to how they drift around corners.
Not realistic enough? There are options to make car owners more cautious – drivers will lock their doors in transit, requiring a little more negotiation or brute force to open – and even an option to make fuel deplete as you drive, which makes gas station visits a necessity.
3. Become a cop
Fed up of playing as GTA's anti-heroes? 'First Response' is a police mod that sees you uphold the law instead of breaking it.
Less of a mod and more a full-blown simulation, you've given a your own car and uniform as you work out of a police station investigating suspects. You can stop and search, take part in high-speed pursuits, and even issue the occasional parking ticket.
4. Play with photo-realistic visuals
Possibly the most well-known GTA 4 mod of all is iCEnhancer, which transforms an already impressive open-world into a jaw-dropping, almost photo-realistic one for those with the most powerful PCs.
According to Rockstar, GTA 5 on PC is set to be the best-looking and technically accomplished version of the game to date, so it'll be interesting to see how the community expands upon its visual prowess in coming years.
5. Turn off all friction and watch all hell break loose
This amusing mod from GTA 4 is also its simplest; by switching off friction in the game's world with a quick and easy variable tweak, cars will now ignore the laws of physics to slip and slide on roads into helpless on-comers.
As you'll see from the below video, even the mere act of opening a car door can yield deadly results – and we'd love to see what would happen if such mayhem took place in Los Santos.
