The makers behind Red Dead Redemption have revealed that the game is to be released as part of Microsoft's Xbox One backwards compatibility this Friday (July 8).
*Gamers assemble klaxon.*
The programme, which was announced at last year's E3, and was implemented as part of a huge update in November, allows Xbox gamers to play their old 360 titles on the Xbox One model.
And - come Friday - Red Dead Redemption will be compatible, meaning you can slip your old 360 disc into the Xbox One and wait for it to install.
Red Dead fans will be able to play directly on their Xbox One, regardless of which version of the game they own (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare or Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition).
And for those who have yet to experience it, the game will be available to purchase on Friday from the Games Store on Xbox One.
The Red Dead franchise joins a growing list of backwards compatibility games, including Xbox 360 versions of Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead and Ubisoft's Flashback remake.
