The first wave of Xbox One indie games will be released early next year, Microsoft has revealed.
Chris Charla, the director of the ID@Xbox self-publishing scheme, told Edge Online that the games are in various stages of development, but the initial batch would likely be released in the first quarter of 2014.
"I think it will be early in the New Year, in the first three months. I would say closer to the third month," Charla explained.
"In terms of how many games there will be, it's hard to say, because they're still in development.
"Some developers started developing for Xbox One, others already had games in development and are working on Xbox One versions. I would say they're at all stages of development, honestly."
Charla said that the aim of ID@Xbox was to give everybody an opportunity to develop games.

"That's [players] at all levels. From coding a game in C++, to someone who can't code at all using something like Project Spark," he added.
Microsoft recently published a list of indie developers taking advantage of its self-publishing scheme.
Microsoft's ID@Xbox initiative has generated interest from more than 50 studios across 50 countries, including Team 17, Double Eleven, Half-Brick, Slightly Mad and Gaijin Games.
