Following the success of last year's Pokémon Go and the absolute craze that ensued, the Pokémon Company International has been announcing a multitude of games for your smartphones.

The latest one to be announced, as reported by brilliant long-running fan site Serebii, is called PokéLand, and it is available for Japanese Android users to alpha-test until June 9.

What to Read Next

If you've played the Pokémon Rumble games on Wii, 3DS or Wii U then this is basically the sequel to that series, and will feature toy Pokémon smacking the Skit(ty) out of each other.

You need to be online to play PokéLand, but you can link the game to your Nintendo Account and have your Mii appear in-game.

The full game will be released on both iOS and Android, although the release date (and whether the game will ever leave Japan) is currently unknown.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Magikarp Jump, a rather bizarre game based around the original useless Pokémon that can get surprisingly emotional.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Go may not be making headlines the world over, but with the introduction of Generation II monsters, better stability and weekly events that make rarer Pokémon easier to find, we believe it's definitely worth getting back into.

And finally, with E3 2017 on the horizon, rumours are that Pokémon Stars is set to be announced for the Nintendo Switch.
