Just when you think the Pokémon Go craze might actually be dying down, the people over at Pokémon and Niantic HQ update the game with a Halloween trick treat that has us all completely obsessed with the game all over again.

Thanks to Pokémon's double-candy fest Halloween-themed event, Pokémon Go has jumped straight back to the top of the iPhone top-grossing charts in the US. And, according to Venture Beat, it's a pretty impressive leap considering the game fell as low as number 10 in the charts last week.

In addition to earning a ridiculous amount of candy for catching, hatching and transferring Pokémon, developer Nitantic is also updating the augmented reality game and temporarily making Ghastlys, Haunters and Gengars a lot more common.

And if that doesn't sum up Pokémon Go taking on the bewitching hour we don't know what will.

Pokémon Go Halloween runs from October 26 to November 1, so there's still a bit of time to reap all the candy benefits.

While the Halloween event doesn't actually include any new content, Niantic has been clever in mixing up some of their older content already to re-engage Pokémon fans - and not just because of all that free candy either.

Still, if the developers ever do want to release content - some more rare Pokémon, for example - we're sure that would go down a real treat too.

Last month, Pokémon Go was the the top-selling mobile game in the world. While its temporary stint at number 10 shows that the game's developers shouldn't get too complacent, it does prove the Poké-phenomenon is still going strong.

And also that even walking into strangers' houses isn't enough to keep the fans from playing when Haunters and candy are involved.
