Sonic the Hedgehog fans on Nintendo 3DS can mark their calendars for October 8.
That's when 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to launch on the handheld via the Nintendo eShop in Europe and North America.
Available now in Japan, the enhanced version of Sega's classic sequel was initially scheduled to make its Western debut by the end of this month but has since seen a slight delay.
Compared to the original 1992 release, it introduces several 3DS-specific features such as support for stereoscopic 3D functionality.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the first main entry in the series to feature Miles 'Tails' Prower, a docile sidekick that sticks by Sonic's side and loosely copies his movements.
