Halo Wars 2 isn't going to be a Total War clone, according to new developer Creative Assembly.
Creative Assembly will use the original Halo Wars as a starting point for the sequel, which won't be a "Total War: Halo kind of game".

Creative Assembly's Tim Heaton told MCV that the team was under "loads of pressure", before outlining the company's vision for the title.
"We are absolutely using Halo Wars as a starting point," he said. "This isn't going to be a Total War: Halo kind of game - this is Halo Wars taken to the next stage.
"We really rated Halo Wars. It's something we can add to and build on.

"As we're learning about the universe, we've been working closely with 343 Industries, and that's been a really interesting learning experience."
Interestingly, with the studio becoming more adept at working on console releases - such as Alien Isolation - Creative Assembly hasn't ruled out releasing Total War on the likes of PS4 and Xbox One.
"Nothing is off the table," Heaton continued. "We know we can do more with Total War.
"PS4 and Xbox One have over-delivered on what some people thought they would do. The consoles are definitely an interesting place to be, and there are going to be loads of opportunities with them."
For now we'll have to make do with Halo Wars 2, which is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 next year.
