Halo: The Master Chief Collection recently added the Halo 3: ODST Campaign as a free update to apologise for the matchmaking issues that plagued the game's launch, but not everyone was eligible for the add-on.

To qualify for the freebie, players were required to have accessed the game's online features on any day between November 11 and December 19 last year - but it has now been confirmed that anyone who doesn't meet these requirements can buy the expansion from the Xbox One Store.

"The Halo 3: ODST Campaign addition to Halo: The Master Chief Collection will soon be available for purchase from the Xbox Store for $4.99 USD for those that do not qualify for the free offer," said developer 343 Industries in a blog post.

The free ODST update arrived alongside a remake of the Halo 2 multiplayer map Relic, which was also offered as a complementary download.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which brings together HD versions of the first two Halo games as well as Halo 3 and Halo 4, was released for Xbox One last November.

343 Industries has patched the game countless times since launch in an attempt to stamp out those persistent matchmaking woes.
