Bethesda finally gave fans a brief taste of id's upcoming Doom reboot this week, although we'll have to wait until E3 for a proper look.

Another video has emerged since then, however, and it's very different to the Doom we know and love.

The footage is said to have been taken from a version that has since been scrapped, and was reportedly the work of cinematics director Mark Bristol.

We'll let you decide which version you like best.

The reboot - which was known as Doom 4 in 2008 before undergoing a revamp in 2011 - was confirmed to be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC at last year's QuakeCon event in a behind-closed-doors showing.

Being created on a new version of the id Tech engine - running at 1080p and 60 frames per second - it's set to contain many of the same monsters from the series, including Imps and Cyberdemons.

It also implements a melee combat system, that allows players to perform a new range of attacks, such as ripping open a demon's head or tearing off its jaw with a chainsaw.

The series was one of many recently referenced by its E3 conference invite, a list which didn't include Fallout 4, despite rumours of an appearance.

The original Doom was recently modded to include support for Instagram-style filters and a selfie stick.
